Job description

SEND Tutor – Didcot & Surrounding Areas

Location: Didcot, Abingdon, Wantage and surrounding areas
Pay: £20–£30 per hour (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Role Type: Part-time / Flexible hours

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate SEND Tutor to support children and young people with additional needs across Didcot and nearby areas.

The successful candidate will have proven experience working with students with SEND, including ASD, ADHD, and dyslexia, and will be confident in delivering tailored, student-centred tuition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess students’ academic levels and individual needs

  • Plan and deliver a personalised scheme of work aligned to each learner’s strengths and challenges

  • Provide engaging, structured, and supportive tuition sessions

  • Adapt teaching strategies to suit a range of SEND profiles

  • Monitor progress and adjust planning accordingly

  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and other professionals where required

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a minimum of 3 years’ tutoring experience

  • Strong experience working with learners with SEND (ASD, ADHD, dyslexia)

  • Ability to assess, plan, and deliver tailored learning programmes

  • Patient, reliable, and highly organised

  • Willingness to travel to Didcot, Abingdon, Wantage, and surrounding areas

Desirable

  • Experience with SEMH or other additional needs

  • Familiarity with EHCP targets and outcomes

  • Background in 1:1 or small-group tuition

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
