Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant

Location: Wellingborough & Rushden (Across 4 School Sites)

Contract Type: Full-Time | Long-Term

Start Date: 23rd February

We are currently supporting a nurturing and inclusive SEND primary school with four sites across Wellingborough and Rushden, dedicated to supporting children with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities. Our mission is to provide a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment where every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

The Role

We are seeking a committed and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join Teaching Personnel on a full-time, long-term basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children with additional needs.

You will work closely with class teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team to support pupils with a range of needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, and complex learning needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEND

  • Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs/EHCPs)

  • Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development

  • Help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents

  • Support with personal care where required

  • Encourage independence and promote positive learning behaviours

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience working with children with SEND (school or similar setting)

  • Be patient, resilient, and nurturing

  • Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Be adaptable and willing to work across different sites if required

  • Hold relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant – desirable but not essential)

  • Have an understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
