SEND Teaching Assistant – Ashton-in-Makerfield (Wigan)

A primary school in Ashton-in-Makerfield is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs on a full-time basis.

This role will involve working closely with a small number of pupils with EHCPs, providing consistent 1:1 and small group support. You will help pupils access the curriculum, manage behaviour, and build confidence within the classroom.

Key responsibilities:

• Deliver tailored support to pupils with SEND, including ASD and SEMH
• Adapt classroom activities to suit individual learning needs
• Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
• Work alongside the class teacher and SENDCo to implement support plans

Ideal candidate:

• Experience supporting children with SEND in a primary setting
• Confident managing behaviour and building positive relationships
• Patient, proactive and able to adapt quickly

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
