Job description

Teaching Personnel are working with a larger than average primary school in Rochdale who are seeking to recruit an experienced SEN teaching assistant to work with students across all year groups in Key Stage 2.

The teachers and teaching assistants work well as a team in this school. The school has a welcoming and caring ethos. The pupils are friendly and polite and love coming to school. They work well in class and help each other. Their behaviour is good and they are happy children.

The teachers in this school have high expectations and create great lessons which cater to their students’ individual needs. They want to raise attainment for all of their students and try to help them achieve good results. Relationships between the staff and their students are positive. Lessons are organised and teaching assistants make positive contributions to students’ learning.

This Primary school is very inclusive and the support for SEN students and staff in the SEN department is very good. There is a school-resourced learning environment within the school where students can receive personalised provision, separate from their classroom in a low-stimulation environment. For a few children, all their learning may be delivered in this setting.  However, for others whilst the majority of their learning is alongside their peers, some learning will be timetabled here.  It is also used to provide a familiar space during break and lunchtimes.

The successful SEN Teaching assistant will be working with students across all year groups in key stage 2. They may be required to help with interventions and booster lessons. They will work with SEN students on a 1:1 or small group basis and help with all subjects, in particular, maths and English. The SEN Teaching assistant must have experience working with SEN students.
