Job description

1:1 Tutor – Core Subjects

TP Tutors are seeking compassionate, adaptable, and enthusiastic tutors to deliver 1:1 tuition in core subjects (English, Maths, Science) to pupils in the Kent and Medway area. Many of these pupils are currently awaiting school placements or are not in education, so tuition will typically take place within the home or a local community setting.

This is a highly rewarding role where you will help pupils re-engage with learning, close gaps in their knowledge, and build the confidence and resilience needed for a successful return to school.

About the Role

  • Plan and deliver personalised programmes in core subjects (KS2–KS4)
  • Provide 1:1 tuition in the home or local setting, adapting approaches to meet each pupil’s needs
  • Support pupils with a wide range of SEND (e.g. dyslexia, ASD, ADHD) and SEMH needs
  • Focus on building confidence, self-esteem, and readiness for reintegration into education
  • Use creativity, patience, and flexibility to inspire positive attitudes towards learning

What You Need

  • QTS/PGCE Certificate (or significant experience in tutoring/education)
  • Strong subject knowledge in English, Maths and/or Science
  • Experience of working with SEND or SEMH learners is highly desirable
  • A calm, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting vulnerable pupils

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
