Job description

Change a Life Through Education

1:1 Maths & English Tutors Needed – Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole

Not every pupil thrives in a classroom — and that’s where you come in.

Teaching Personnel is working with local authorities to support pupils educated outside of mainstream settings (EOTAS) through high-impact 1:1 tuition. We’re looking for passionate Maths and English tutors who want to do more than teach — they want to change lives.

Many of the pupils you’ll work with have SEND and/or SEMH needs and may have disengaged from education altogether. Your personalised, compassionate approach will help rebuild confidence, restore trust in learning, and open doors that may have felt closed.

This isn’t about targets or ticking boxes. It’s about connection, progress, and real breakthroughs — one pupil at a time.

Why You’ll Love This Role:

  • £25–£50 per hour (PAYE)

  • Weekly pay

  • Flexible hours — you’re in control

  • Local placements close to home

  • Full support from a dedicated consultant

  • The chance to make a visible, lasting impact every week

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified teachers (QTS) or experienced tutors

  • Patient, empathetic educators who believe every pupil can succeed

  • Confidence teaching Maths and/or English

  • Experience with SEND or SEMH pupils (great to have, not essential)

  • Adaptable teaching styles and a big-picture mindset

Whether you’re stepping back from the classroom, semi-retired, or looking for work that truly matters, this role offers flexibility, fulfilment, and purpose.

Apply now and be the reason a pupil re-engages with learning.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
For details of our privacy policy, please visit the Teaching Personnel website.
