SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary School (Tarporley)

Location: Tarporley, Cheshire
Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-Time, Temporary until Christmas in the first instance
Potential Extension: Opportunity for the placement to be extended beyond Christmas
Hours: Monday to Friday, school hours
Salary: Competitive daily rate, dependent on experience

About the Role

A welcoming and inclusive Primary School in Tarporley is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis starting as soon as possible. This role will initially run until the Christmas break, with the possibility of an extension for the right candidate.

The successful applicant will work closely with pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), providing targeted support to help them access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential within the classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional needs.
  • Support children with a range of SEND, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health needs.
  • Work alongside the class teacher to deliver engaging learning activities tailored to individual pupil needs.
  • Implement strategies outlined in Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) where applicable.
  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, promoting emotional wellbeing and independence.
  • Assist with classroom management and encourage positive behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Support pupils during lessons, breaktimes, and other school activities as required.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Contribute to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Previous experience working with children, ideally within a school or educational setting.
  • Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs is highly desirable.
  • A patient, nurturing, and proactive approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Relevant qualifications in Teaching Assistance, Childcare, Health & Social Care, or a related field are advantageous but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
