Duration: Until Christmas 2026 in the first instance, with the potential for extension should both the school and candidate be happy
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated, patient and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming Primary School in Congleton. The successful candidate will work on a full-time basis providing 1:1 support for a pupil with additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop socially and emotionally, and achieve their full potential within the classroom environment.

This is a rewarding opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and making a positive difference to a child's educational journey.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with special educational needs.
• Support the pupil's academic, social and emotional development throughout the school day.
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and other support staff to implement learning strategies and interventions.
• Adapt learning activities and resources to meet the individual needs of the child.
• Promote positive behaviour and encourage independence where appropriate.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff regarding the child's development and engagement.
• Assist with personal care requirements if required.
• Foster a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
• Support the child during lessons, breaktimes, educational visits and other school activities as required.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) within a school, care or similar setting.
• A calm, patient and empathetic approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to follow guidance and implement support plans effectively.
• Experience supporting children with needs such as Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, SEMH needs, or other additional learning needs would be advantageous.
• A genuine passion for supporting children and helping them to thrive.
• Relevant qualifications such as Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification are desirable but not essential.
