SEN Teaching Assistant - Northwich
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEN school in Northwich for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis from September.
This is an excellent opportunity to support children and young people with a range of special educational needs, helping them to access learning, develop independence, and achieve positive outcomes in a supportive and nurturing educational environment.
The position is initially offered until the Christmas break, with the possibility of extension for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), and associated learning difficulties.
- Working on a one-to-one basis and with small groups to support learning and development.
- Assisting the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons.
- Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging pupil engagement within the classroom.
- Supporting pupils with personal care requirements where necessary.
- Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents, and external professionals.
- Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
- Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, either within a school, care, youth work, or support setting.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships and establish clear boundaries.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to adapt to the individual needs of pupils.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or Level 3).
- Experience supporting pupils with Autism, SEMH, ADHD, or complex needs.
- Team Teach, MAPA, or other positive behaviour support training.
- A full UK driving licence is advantageous but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
