SEN Teaching Assistant Needed - 29th April Start

A fantastic opportunity has presented itself at an SEN Primary school, supporting 2 students with SEN, Year 2 and reception class with the day being split between a morning and afternoon supporting each child.

The children's needs:

  • Communication, language and interaction support needed.
  • They also have cognition, learning & sensory developmental needs.
  • Enjoy physical activity and requires supervision during class and break time.
  • Following timetables throughout the day, time spent in class and in specialist sessions.

The school are now looking for an experienced SEN teaching assistant to start ASAP for some handover work before commencing the role full time from April 29th 2019.

The school itself already has everything in place for the children so it will be a case of the new SEN Teaching assistant communicating with the SENCO and following the plan/ routines in place.

The SEN Teaching assistant role:

  • Working in the classroom and at workstations with an individualised curriculum created with support from both the Occupational Therapist and Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Interventions such as Social Skills, Speech, Life skills and Attention Autism.
  • Additionally, as the SEN Teaching assistant you are expected to make judgement calls for the child's state and are free to use the sensory room liberally.

The school are very clear about their staff retention policy and are always open to supporting their Teaching assistants and SEN Teaching assistants to progressing on their own career path.
