SEN Teaching Assistant – LA2

Start Date: 19th April

Location: Local to Garstang and Lancaster!!

Support for Two Pupils with Trauma‑Related Needs
Competitive PAYE Pay Rates

Teaching Personnel is seeking an experienced and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support two young boys in a primary school located in the LA2 area. Both pupils have a history of trauma and require consistent, sensitive, and emotionally‑aware support throughout the school day.

The role begins on 19th April and will be based within the same classroom, with the successful candidate providing support by moving between both pupils as needed.


The Role

  • Provide targeted 1:1 support for two pupils with trauma‑related social and emotional needs
  • Work between both boys within the same classroom, responding to their individual needs as they arise
  • Build trusting, secure relationships to help pupils feel safe, regulated, and ready to learn
  • Support emotional regulation, confidence, communication, and engagement
  • Contribute to the implementation of individual support plans, including emotional and behavioural strategies
  • Work in collaboration with the class teacher and wider pastoral/SEN team to ensure a consistent, nurturing approach

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking an individual who is:

  • Experienced in supporting children affected by trauma, attachment difficulties, or adverse childhood experiences
  • Able to remain calm, patient, and predictable when supporting pupils in moments of dysregulation
  • Skilled in de‑escalation and emotionally‑attuned communication
  • Confident working 1:1 and adapting support to meet changing needs throughout the day
  • Professional, reliable, and committed to creating a safe and positive learning environment
  • Able to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
  • Comfortable working within the same classroom and moving between both children as necessary

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
