SEN Teaching Assistant

Job description

An outstanding secondary SEN school in Peckham has an exciting opportunity available for a teaching assistant to join their team from after Easter 2020.

The children at this school are aged 11-18 and have varied, severe learning difficulties, including those with non-verbal autism, down syndrome and physical disabilities.

The role:

  • Full time position, 9am – 4pm, Monday to Friday, term time only
  • Support a key stage 4 class of students
  • Provide mostly 1:1 support on a rotational basis for the different children in the class
  • Support academic, social, communication and sensory development
  • Provide personal care where necessary for those students that need assistance with toileting
  • Assist in the swimming pool for hydrotherapy once a week
  • Assist with reporting on progress made by the students
  • Provide assistance for behaviour support and enforce class expectations
  • This school has been rated as outstanding by Ofsted for its last two inspections and has a very friendly staff team who will give you a warm welcome

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding the welfare of all children. You will therefore be required to have a child workforce DBS registered to the update service, or be willing to make a new application as soon as possible.

We can offer competitive pay rates between GBP60 and GBP85 per day on a Pay As You Earn scheme – we will be your direct employer and pay a national insurance and pension contribution for you in addition to your daily pay rate.
