1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Year 3 (Wigan)
A primary school in Wigan is seeking a compassionate and resilient 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 3 pupil with complex additional needs. This is a full-time role starting in September 2026 and is expected to continue on a long-term basis.
The pupil requires consistent, structured support throughout the school day, with a strong emphasis on communication, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning. The school is looking for someone patient, proactive, and experienced in supporting children with complex SEND.
You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to deliver tailored support and implement individual strategies that enable the pupil to access learning.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day
- Implement EHCP targets and personalised learning strategies
- Support with behaviour regulation and emotional wellbeing
- Adapt learning materials to meet the pupil’s needs
- Build a positive and trusting relationship with the child
Essential requirements:
- Experience working with children with complex SEND (e.g. ASD, communication needs, behavioural challenges)
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and inclusive practice
- Calm, patient, and consistent approach
- Ability to work as part of a wider support team
Experience with strategies such as TEACCH, PECS, or sensory-based approaches would be highly beneficial. Please apply with your most recent CV below to be considered for this role.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
