Teaching Assistant – Secondary PRU
Location: Sunderland
Contract: Full-time / Term-time (flexible considered)
We are seeking a committed, resilient and proactive Teaching Assistant to join our Secondary Pupil Referral Unit in Sunderland.
Our PRU supports young people who require a fresh start and consistent, positive adult relationships. This role is ideal for someone who is not afraid to get stuck in, can think on their feet, and genuinely wants to make a difference.
The Role:

Supporting students aged 14–16 with social, emotional and behavioural needs
-
Working 1:1 and in small groups, both in and out of the classroom

Building positive relationships and acting as a strong role model
-
Supporting behaviour regulation and engagement in learning
-
Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff and external professionals
We’re Looking For Someone Who:

Is proactive, reliable and confident

Can stay calm under pressure and adapt quickly
-
Has strong communication and relationship-building skills
-
Is willing to be hands-on and involved in all aspects of school life

Has experience working with young people (desirable but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
