Location: Southampton and surrounding areas
Pay Rate: £13.75 per hour

About the Role:
Teaching Personnel is looking for compassionate, reliable, and proactive Teaching Assistants to support a number of Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools across Southampton. This is an ad-hoc position, ideal for individuals seeking flexible work that fits around other commitments while making a positive difference in the lives of children with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of special educational needs (ASD, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and more).

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging, accessible learning activities.

  • Support pupils with personal care, emotional regulation, and social development where required.

  • Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.

  • Follow individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.

  • Adapt support to meet the unique needs of each child.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people (preferably in SEN settings).

  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach.

  • A willingness to take on flexible, short-notice assignments.

  • A valid DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply through Teaching Personnel).

  • Right to work in the UK.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
