Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a dedicated SEN Specialist Teaching Assistant to work within an Inclusion Resource (IR) Unit at a school in Sheffield. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs and helping them reach their full potential.

The Role

As an SEN Specialist Teaching Assistant, you will provide targeted support to pupils with a range of additional needs, working closely with teaching staff and the wider pastoral and SEN team. You will play an important role in creating a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils within the IR Unit.
• Supporting pupils with a range of SEN, including autism, ADHD, communication needs and social, emotional and mental health needs.
• Helping pupils access learning and develop their confidence and independence.
• Supporting positive behaviour and helping pupils to regulate their emotions.
• Implementing individual learning and support strategies.
• Building strong, positive relationships with pupils.
• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals.
• Supporting pupils both within the IR Unit and, where appropriate, in mainstream lessons.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is patient, resilient and genuinely passionate about supporting children with additional needs.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience working with pupils with SEN.
• Experience within a specialist provision, IR Unit, SEN Hub or similar setting.
• A good understanding of behaviour management and inclusive teaching strategies.
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• A calm, consistent and nurturing approach.
• Relevant Teaching Assistant or SEN qualifications are desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
