Chaldon, Surrey
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week, term time only
Salary: £24,139.67 – £25,819.26 (depending on experience & qualifications)
Hourly Rate: £13.51 – £14.45
Plus a £1,000 Welcome Bonus*

Are you passionate about making a real difference in young people’s lives? We’re recruiting Teaching Assistants for a brand-new SEND secondary school in Chaldon, which opened in September 2025. This is a rare opportunity to be part of a school from day one and help shape a positive, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.

About the School
The provision supports students aged 11–16 with needs linked to autism, social communication, emotional regulation, and sensory processing. With small class sizes, high staff-to-student ratios, and access to a multi-disciplinary team, pupils receive personalised support through a curriculum aligned with the national curriculum.

This is a permanent role, mainly based in Redhill, with occasional flexibility to support a nearby satellite provision in Caterham.


Your Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a key part in supporting pupils’ learning, wellbeing, and development, helping to create a calm, structured, and supportive environment. This may include personal care and the use of positive behaviour strategies tailored to individual needs.


Key Responsibilities

  • ️ Safeguard and promote pupil wellbeing in line with school policies

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils

  • Support emotional regulation, focus, and positive behaviour

  • Encourage independence and personal development

  • ️ Share feedback with teachers on progress, behaviour, and engagement

  • Support learning activities and reinforce key concepts

  • Prepare and organise resources for lessons

  • Help deliver a broad, balanced curriculum adapted to pupil needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
