Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to work within welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary schools across Plymouth. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young learners who require additional support.

About the Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with a range of needs, including:

• Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
• Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
• Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
• Speech and Language difficulties

You’ll be helping to create a positive, structured, and nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual learning needs
• Assisting pupils in accessing the curriculum and staying engaged in lessons
• Working collaboratively with class teachers and SENCOs to implement support strategies
• Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development
• Encouraging independence, confidence, and inclusion in the classroom

• A caring, patient, and proactive approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A genuine interest in supporting children with SEN
• Experience with SEN is desirable but not essential — full training and guidance can be provided
• Backgrounds in education, care, psychology, youth work, or similar fields are highly valued

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
