Location: Plymouth & surrounding areas
Pay: £90 – £100 per day, depending on experience

Teaching Personnel Plymouth is looking for enthusiastic, caring and reliable Teaching Assistants to work across a range of primary schools in Plymouth and the surrounding areas from September 2026.
Whether you're an experienced Teaching Assistant, have previous experience working with children or young people, or you're looking to build your experience within a school environment, we'd love to hear from you.
We work with a variety of mainstream primary schools and specialist SEND settings, offering flexible opportunities including day-to-day supply, short-term and long-term placements.
What will you be doing?
As a Teaching Assistant, you'll play an important role in helping pupils feel supported, confident and ready to learn. Your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting teachers with the delivery of engaging and inclusive lessons.
- Working with individuals and small groups to support learning and development.
- Providing additional support to pupils with SEND and individual learning needs.
- Supporting pupils with reading, writing, phonics, maths and classroom activities.
- Encouraging positive behaviour and helping to create a calm and nurturing classroom environment.
- Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
- Supporting children's confidence, independence and social development.
- Working closely with teachers and wider school staff to support pupil progress.
- Adapting to different schools, year groups and classroom environments.
What are we looking for?
We're looking for people who are:
- Passionate about working with children and supporting their development.
- Experienced in working with children or young people – school-based experience is desirable.
- Patient, approachable and confident in supporting children with different needs.
- Caring, positive and enthusiastic in their approach.
- Strong communicators who enjoy working as part of a team.
- Reliable and adaptable, with the ability to settle into new school environments quickly.
- Available to work between approximately 8:30am and 3:30pm on your chosen working days.
- Able to commit to regular work where possible.
- In possession of an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willing to apply for a new DBS through Teaching Personnel.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
