Teaching Assistant – SEMH, ASD & ADHD

Hours: Full-time

The Opportunity
We are working in partnership with specialist Alternative Provision Units to recruit a Teaching Assistant with experience supporting pupils with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
This is an excellent opportunity for an empathetic and resilient individual who is passionate about supporting young people who require tailored, trauma-informed education in a smaller, more supportive setting.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils who may present with challenging behaviour, emotional regulation difficulties or barriers to learning. Responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH, ASD and ADHD
- Supporting learning activities across the curriculum under teacher direction
- Assisting pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour management and engagement
- Building positive, trusting relationships and acting as a consistent adult presence
- Supporting the implementation of behaviour plans, EHCP targets and risk assessments
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals
- Promoting a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH, ASD or ADHD
- Experience in alternative provision, SEN schools, PRUs, care or youth work is highly desirable
- A calm, patient and proactive approach
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills
- The ability to remain professional and resilient in challenging situations
- Relevant TA or SEN qualifications are advantageous but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
