SEN Teaching Assistant – Part Time (Lancaster)

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a small, high‑needs primary school in Lancaster to appoint an experienced and committed SEN Teaching Assistant. The school supports a significant number of pupils with Autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and a high proportion of children with EHCPs. As such, the successful candidate must demonstrate a patient, adaptable, and skilled approach to supporting diverse learning needs.

This position involves delivering high‑quality support to pupils who require both 1:1 guidance and small‑group intervention. You will contribute to the school’s inclusive ethos and play a key role in helping pupils access learning and build confidence.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide effective 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs.
• Assist with the implementation of EHCPs and IEPs, ensuring consistency across daily routines.
• Use a wide range of strategies, including adapted learning materials and alternative communication methods where required.
• Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCo, and wider SEN team.
• Support classroom routines, behaviour management and the creation of a structured, positive environment.
• Contribute to extracurricular and enrichment activities that support the engagement and wellbeing of SEN pupils.

Candidate Requirements

• Experience supporting children with Autism, ADHD, behavioural needs, or wider SEN.
• Understanding of SEN strategies and the ability to adapt support to meet individual needs.
• Professional, calm, and consistent approach when working with pupils who require additional support.
• Familiarity with EHCPs and SEN support plans (desirable but not essential).
• Based in or able to commute to the Lancaster area.
• Reliable, compassionate, and committed to providing high‑quality support throughout the academic year.
