Job description

Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) – Specialist SEN School (Primary & Secondary)

Location: Farnborough (commutable from Basingstoke and surrounding areas)
Hours: Full-time
Pay Rate: £13.75 per hour

We are currently seeking committed, compassionate, and motivated Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to join a well-established specialist SEN school in Farnborough. The school supports both primary and secondary aged pupils with a range of special educational needs, including autism spectrum conditions, moderate to severe learning difficulties, and associated additional needs.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a highly supportive, structured, and nurturing educational environment where pupils’ individual needs are at the heart of everything the school does. Through personalised learning approaches and a strong multidisciplinary team, the school is dedicated to enabling every pupil to develop academically, socially, and emotionally, and to achieve their full potential.

The Role:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils throughout the school day. Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing 1:1 support or working with small groups of pupils across both primary and secondary age ranges

  • Assisting teachers in delivering differentiated learning activities tailored to individual education plans (EHCPs)

  • Supporting pupils with communication, sensory regulation, emotional wellbeing, and social interaction

  • Encouraging independence, engagement in learning, and positive behaviour

  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to implement effective support strategies

  • Helping to maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment at all times

About You:

We welcome applications from individuals who are passionate about supporting children and young people with special educational needs. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, autism, or learning difficulties (highly desirable)

  • Experience in childcare, education, support work, care settings, or similar roles (strongly encouraged to apply)

  • A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to supporting individual needs

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

  • A genuine commitment to promoting inclusion and positive outcomes for pupils

While direct SEN school experience is advantageous, it is not essential. Applicants with relevant childcare or care-based experience who are eager to develop their skills within an SEN setting are strongly encouraged to apply.

What’s on Offer:

  • Full-time, ongoing position

  • Competitive pay rate of £13.75 per hour

  • Comprehensive training and ongoing professional development opportunities

  • A supportive, experienced team and a well-resourced specialist SEN environment

  • The opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of children and young people

If you are dedicated to supporting pupils with additional educational needs and are seeking a rewarding full-time role within a specialist SEN setting in Farnborough, we would be delighted to receive your application.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
