SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Near Chickrell, Dorset
Contract: Monday to Friday
Salary: Paid to scale
DBS: Preferable (support available if required)
Start Date: By agreement

We are working closely with a welcoming and inclusive school near Chickrell who are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, Monday to Friday basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a child’s educational journey within a supportive and nurturing environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with pupils who require additional support, helping to create a calm, encouraging and structured learning experience. You will be supported by experienced teachers and SEN professionals who value teamwork and compassion.

The Role:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEN
  • Support pupils’ academic, social and emotional development
  • Help create a positive, inclusive classroom environment
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO
  • Encourage independence, confidence and engagement in learning

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience working with children or young people with SEN (desirable, not essential)
  • Be patient, caring and committed to supporting individual needs
  • Be reliable and able to work Monday to Friday
  • Have a positive, proactive approach to supporting learning
  • Hold a DBS certificate (preferable) or be willing to apply for one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
