Job description

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people who need additional support? We’re looking for a caring, resilient and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic Alternative Provision in the Carlisle area.

About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll be supporting students who may have additional learning needs, social/emotional barriers, or challenging behaviours. Every day will be different and you’ll be helping to create a safe, positive and engaging environment where students can thrive both academically and personally.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Supporting students on a 1:1 and small-group basis

  • Helping learners with SEN or SEMH needs access the curriculum

  • Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils

  • Assisting teachers with classroom activities and behaviour routines

  • Encouraging confidence, independence and emotional wellbeing

  • Working closely with staff, parents and external professionals

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with SEN, SEMH, or in a specialist/alternative provision

  • Is patient, nurturing and calm under pressure

  • Can build rapport quickly and understands the importance of consistency

  • Is adaptable, proactive and able to handle challenging situations

  • Truly wants to support young people who need a different kind of approach

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
