February 2026 Opportunity: Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant

Full-Time | Immediate Start
Bury St Edmunds

Kick off February with a rewarding new role! We’re currently recruiting experienced Specialist SEN Teaching Assistants to join an Outstanding-rated specialist school in Bury St Edmunds. This is a full-time position with an immediate start!

A full UK driving licence is essential due to the location.


About the Role

You’ll play a key role in supporting children and young people aged 5–18 with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) within a nurturing, structured, and supportive environment. Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider support staff, you’ll help students thrive both academically and emotionally.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with MLD and additional needs

  • Support lesson delivery under the guidance of the class teacher

  • Promote students’ emotional, social, and behavioural development

  • Help maintain a calm, inclusive, and engaging learning environment

  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff


Requirements

  • Proven experience supporting children or young people with SEN, ideally MLD

  • Full UK Driving Licence – essential

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

  • Strong communication skills, patience, and a proactive approach

  • A clear commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
