SEN Teaching Assistant
Job description
We are looking for a compassionate, dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our supportive school team. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of children with Special Educational Needs, helping them to access learning, build confidence and reach their full potential.
As an SEN TA, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored support for pupils with a range of needs, such as ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, social/emotional needs, or learning delays.
Location: Burnley
Contract: Full-time
Start Date: Monday 1st June 2026
Salary: £14.30 - £15.20 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with identified SEN.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of differentiated learning activities.
- Help create a calm, safe and inclusive classroom environment.
- Support pupils in developing social and emotional skills.
- Implement individual support plans and behaviour strategies.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents/carers.
- Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback to the SENCO and teaching team.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience supporting children with SEN (school or care setting).
- A patient, nurturing and resilient approach.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 TA, childcare or SEN training) are an advantage but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
