Teaching Personnel is recruiting on behalf of a specialist educational setting in the BS48 area for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their permanent team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children and young people with additional learning needs, helping them develop the confidence, independence, and skills they need to achieve their full potential.

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and wider professionals to support pupils aged 4-19 with a range of needs, including:

  • Autism (ASC)
  • ADHD
  • SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs
  • Learning disabilities
  • Communication and interaction difficulties
  • EAL (English as an Additional Language)

You will provide both 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils access learning, develop social and emotional skills, and achieve positive outcomes both inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils throughout the school day with their learning and development
  • Promoting independence and life skills
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Assisting with the implementation of individual learning and support plans
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, families, and external agencies
  • Recording pupil progress and contributing to reviews and planning

About You

We are keen to hear from candidates with experience in:

  • Special Educational Needs (SEN) settings
  • Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant roles
  • Support Work, Care Work, Youth Work, Social Care, or Community Support
  • Supporting individuals with autism, learning disabilities, SEMH needs, or mental health difficulties

The successful candidate will be:

  • A strong communicator with excellent relationship-building skills
  • Able to remain calm in challenging situations
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
