Job description

SEN Support Mentor – North Bristol

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people to overcome barriers to learning? We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated SEN Support Mentor to join our team, working across schools in North Bristol with pupils who have Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This rewarding role involves providing tailored 1:1 and small group support, helping pupils develop confidence, improve engagement, and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and small group support to pupils with SEN and SEMH needs.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage confidence and engagement.
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour management and social development.
  • Work closely with teachers and school staff to implement support strategies.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment.
  • Record progress and provide feedback where required.

What we're looking for:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH or additional needs (school, care or youth work experience is welcome).
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to adapt to individual pupil needs and work effectively as part of a team.
  • A genuine passion for helping children reach their full potential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
