1:1 SEN Learning Support Assistant – Behaviour & Autism Focus
Location: BS35 area of Bristol
Contract: Full-time, term time only
Pay: £89–£100 per day

Teaching Personnel is working with a specialist school in the BS35 area of Bristol seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Learning Support Assistant to support pupils primarily with Autism (ASC) and behavioural needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people aged 5–16 who require consistent, patient, and understanding adults to help them thrive both academically and emotionally.


About the Role

Start: ASAP (ongoing throughout the academic year)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, term time only
Hours: Typically 8:30am–3:30pm (may vary by school)
Progression: Potential for a permanent contract

The school’s main focus is supporting pupils with:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)

  • Social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs

  • Behaviour that challenges

  • Communication and sensory processing differences


Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to help a pupil access learning

  • Support positive behaviour strategies and emotional regulation

  • Work alongside the class teacher to adapt tasks and resources

  • Implement and support EHCP targets

  • Help create a calm, structured, and predictable environment

  • Build a trusting relationship that promotes safety, confidence, and independence


Who We’re Looking For

  • A genuine passion for supporting children with autism and behavioural needs

  • Calm, resilient, and adaptable approach

  • Strong communication skills and a consistent presence ️

  • Understanding of behaviour as communication (desirable but not essential)

  • Experience with children or vulnerable individuals is beneficial, but no formal qualifications are required — full training and support will be provided

This role would particularly suit individuals interested in careers in:
