Teaching Assistant (SEMH Support) – Secondary School | Bournemouth
Are you a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant looking to make a meaningful impact? We are proud to be working with a welcoming mainstream secondary school in Bournemouth, seeking a dedicated individual to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The Role:
This is a full-time position starting 13th April through to July, offering a rewarding opportunity to work closely with students who require additional support to thrive both academically and emotionally. You will play a key role in helping pupils engage with learning, build confidence, and develop positive relationships within the school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
- Assist in managing behaviour and promoting a positive learning environment
- Support students with Autism, adapting approaches to meet individual needs
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
- Encourage social development and emotional regulation strategies
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Previous experience working with children with Autism (essential)
- A strong understanding of SEMH needs within a school setting
- Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills
- The ability to remain calm and consistent in challenging situations
- A proactive and flexible approach to supporting learning

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
