SEN Teaching Assistant – Birmingham

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school setting in Birmingham. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them to achieve their full potential both academically and personally.
The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to provide tailored support for pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH).
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN
- Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
- Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing and behaviour management
- Adapt learning activities to meet individual student needs
- Encourage independence, confidence, and positive social interaction
- Monitor and record student progress where required
- Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable
- A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students
- Relevant qualifications are advantageous but not essential
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
