SEN Teaching Assistant – Full Time – September Start

Location: Trafford | Salary: Competitive | Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term

We are working with a highly regarded specialist school supporting children and young people aged 2–19 years with a range of complex needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
  • Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
  • Communication and sensory needs

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated SEN TA, Learning Support Assistant, or Support Worker to join a dynamic and nurturing team from September on a full-time basis.


The Role – SEN Teaching Assistant

As a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual EHCP targets
  • Assist pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and personal development
  • Support the class teacher with lesson preparation and delivery
  • Implement behaviour support strategies and sensory approaches
  • Help create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment
  • Support with personal care where required
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and social interaction

✅ Requirements – What We’re Looking For

To succeed in this Teaching Assistant role, you will ideally have:

  • Experience working with SEN / SEND / SEMH / autism / complex needs
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Health & Social Care) – desirable but not essential
  • Backgrounds in care, youth work, psychology or support work are highly transferable
