Job Description

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a qualified and passionate SEN Teacher to join one of our partner schools in Southampton. This opportunity is ideal for teachers with experience supporting children and young people with a range of additional learning needs and complex needs.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering inclusive, differentiated lessons to pupils with special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and moderate learning difficulties (MLD).

This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful difference within a supportive and well-resourced educational setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, individualised lessons aligned with EHCP outcomes

  • Differentiate learning to meet a wide range of academic abilities and additional needs

  • Create a positive, structured and inclusive classroom environment

  • Work collaboratively with the SENCO, teaching assistants, external professionals, and parents/carers

  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, maintaining accurate and detailed records

  • Support pupils’ social, emotional and behavioural development

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential

  • Experience teaching pupils with SEN in mainstream or specialist settings

  • Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and effective differentiation strategies

  • Excellent communication and behaviour management skills

  • A patient, proactive and empathetic approach

  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
