Are you a passionate SEN Primary Teacher looking for a rewarding role supporting children with a range of special educational needs?

We are seeking a flexible, dedicated SEN teacher to join a welcoming primary school in Pontypridd. This is a floating position, working across different year groups to provide tailored support and high-quality teaching for pupils with diverse additional learning needs.

About the School

This welcoming and inclusive SEN Primary School operates across two sites on the outskirts of Pontypridd. Since 2017, the school has expanded significantly, with both staff and pupil numbers almost doubling. It now provides education for 242 pupils aged 3–19 with autism, multiple learning difficulties, physical and medical needs, and sensory impairments.

The second site delivers specialist support for autistic pupils aged 14–19, and the school also has a base at the local college where older learners access vocational learning opportunities.

Families greatly value the school’s integrated approach to support, including access to on-site physiotherapy and speech and language therapy clinics. The school’s investment in in-house provision and close collaboration with health professionals make a strong, positive contribution to pupils’ care, well-being, and overall development.

A nurturing ethos is at the heart of the school. Staff create a caring and supportive environment where pupils feel safe, valued, and well looked after. Relationships are built on trust and a deep understanding of each pupil’s individual interests and needs.

About the Role:

• Work across multiple classes, adapting to the needs of pupils from different year groups.

• Support children with a variety of special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, and speech & language difficulties.

• Collaborate with class teachers, teaching assistants, and the SENCO to deliver individualised learning experiences.

• Create inclusive, engaging lessons and activities that promote pupil progress, confidence, and independence.

We are seeking someone who:

  • Has genuine enthusiasm for supporting pupils with a wide range of additional learning needs
  • Can build trusting, positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
  • Values a nurturing, person-centred approach
  • Is patient, resilient, and committed to helping young people thrive
  • Can adapt to pupils’ individual interests, abilities, and communication styles
  • Works well as part of a collaborative, caring staff team
