SEN English Teacher (QTS Required) – Full-Time – September Start
Location: NE4, Newcastle upon Tyne
Position: SEN English Teacher
Contract: Full-Time (5 Days per Week)
Start Date: September 2026
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and supportive Special Educational Needs (SEN) Secondary School in the NE4 area of Newcastle upon Tyne. The school is seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) to join their team on a full-time basis. Salary ranges from £140-£170 based on experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons to secondary-aged students with a range of Special Educational Needs.
- Adapt teaching methods and resources to meet individual learning requirements.
- Monitor, assess, and record student progress effectively.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and wider school staff.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment.
- Contribute to EHCP targets and individual learning plans where appropriate.
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
- Experience teaching English at secondary level.
- Knowledge and understanding of Special Educational Needs and effective SEN teaching strategies.
- Strong communication, organisational, and classroom management skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Compliance Requirements

- Hold an Enhanced Child and Adult DBS Certificate or be willing to apply for one immediately.
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Provide satisfactory professional references and complete all required pre-employment checks.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
