Job description

SEN Teacher – Secondary Provision 

Location: Burnley
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm
Staff Meeting: Tuesdays until 4:40pm
Contract: Full-time, long-term supply
Pay: Depenent on skills and experience
Start Date: ASAP

We are seeking a committed and adaptable SEN Teacher to work in a Secondary SEN provision in Burnley, delivering education using a primary-style model. This role is ideal for both secondary and primary trained teachers, and primary teachers are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Role:

  • Teach pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs within a secondary setting using a primary-based approach

  • Deliver engaging, practical, and sensory-informed lessons

  • Adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs

  • Create a structured, supportive, and inclusive learning environment

  • Work collaboratively with support staff, SEN professionals, and leadership

  • Support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have a strong understanding of a range of SEN needs, including sensory and practical learning approaches

  • Be confident delivering differentiated lessons across ability levels

  • Have experience working with SEN pupils (school or specialist provision experience desirable)

  • Hold QTS or relevant teaching qualification (primary or secondary)

  • Be patient, flexible, and passionate about inclusive education

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
