SEMH Teacher – Permanent Role – Andover

Teaching Personnel is recruiting for an experienced and passionate SEMH Teacher to join a specialist school in Andover on a permanent basis, starting in September 2026.

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated teacher to work within a specialist setting supporting pupils aged 4–11 years with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The school prides itself on providing a nurturing, structured environment where pupils can thrive both academically and emotionally. With small class sizes of up to 6 students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Create a positive, safe and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Support pupils in developing emotional regulation, resilience and confidence.
  • Manage and respond effectively to challenging behaviours using positive behaviour strategies.
  • Monitor, assess and report on pupil progress.
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, senior leaders, parents and external agencies.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school and support pupils' personal development.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Has experience working with children with SEMH needs, SEND, or challenging behaviour.
  • Demonstrates strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Is patient, resilient and committed to helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.
  • Has a creative and adaptable approach to teaching.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
