We are currently working with an Alternative Provision who are looking for a Teacher to start in after October half term. 

The school provides education for Portsmouth pupils who are unable to attend mainstream school for either Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Needs or medical reasons. There are 95 places for learners with Education and Health Care Plans (EHCPs), 105 Alternative Provision (AP) places and 38 places funded from the ‘medical block’. The school makes provision for learners who require a short period of Alternative Provision away from mainstream school and for learners with long term and complex SEMH Needs. We operate under an SLA with Portsmouth City Council and are in the process of converting to academy status.

The school are looking for a passionate and creative Teacher who has experience working with students with SEN/challenging behaviour. You will be expected to teach a range of subjects across the curriculum. 

You must be enthusiastic and highly motivated and will be expected to make a significant contribution to the school. You will join their vision of high expectations of achievement and behaviour, and offer a nurturing and supportive ethos, celebrating differences and ensuring that everyone meets their full potential.

To be considered for this role you will need to-

  • Have experience working as a Teacher (teachers with and without QTS will be considered)
  • Provide support for pupils ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of education or behaviour plans
  • Establish trusted relationships with pupils and work with them on an individual needs basis.
  • Promote the inclusion of all pupils in the classroom
  • Encourage pupils to interact in classroom learning and with their peers
  • Promote self confidence and set individual tailored goals and challenges
  • Be Team Teach trained or willing to complete the course
  • Have Experience in youth work or relevant experience in behaviour management

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
