Hours: 40 hours per week - Start time 815am, Finish time 445pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday , 5pm Tuesday and 4pm Friday
Teaching Personnel are very proud to be working with a brand new SEND Secondary School opened in September 2025 in Redhill, Surrey for young people aged 11-16 who require support with social communication, emotional regulation and sensory processing, typically associated with Autism. All students have access to a broad and exciting curriculum, allied to the national curriculum, personalised to meet their needs, interests and passions. With a model of small classes, high levels of classroom support and a supernumerary multi-disciplinary intervention team, the students are given every opportunity to achieve.
We are looking to recruit a Nurture Teacher to join our team at this wonderful school. This is an exciting opportunity to join the school at the start of their journey. You will be based in Redhill, Surrey with a requirement to work out of our satellite site a 10 minute drive away.
The main purpose of the role:
The purpose of the Nurture Teacher is to deliver high quality teaching and learning for children and young people with social communication, emotional regulation and sensory processing needs, typically associated with autism. Some pupils may have multiple learning difficulties and may present with some challenging behaviours.
Key duties:
- To contribute to the delivery and development of the curriculum, having regard to the educational, physical and social needs of the students within a learning environment.
- To work collaboratively with other members of staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- To maintain and use short, medium and long term plans in delivering the curriculum.
- To set, monitor and review personalised targets that will optimise learning for each individual.
- To monitor, assess, review and report on the progress and work of students to parents, team members, senior staff, examination and funding bodies through reports and identified meetings as directed and as is required through school policies and procedures.
- To develop lesson plans analysing and self-reflecting on the outcomes.
- To contribute to the review of Statements and EHC plans, PEP and LAC reviews.
- To provide clear structures for lessons maintaining pace, motivation and challenge.
- To maintain an overall awareness of current issues in the field of autism in order to be able to plan for effective teaching and learning.
- To work in a non-confrontational way to ensure individual needs are met.
- To appropriately manage challenging behaviours within the school policy and procedures.
Duties will vary, you must expect to diversify and lend a hand wherever is required.
What We're Looking For:
Essential:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience in special school settings, particularly with pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
- Proven ability to deliver a differentiated curriculum to meet diverse learning needs
- Strong knowledge of the national curriculum
- Working understanding of ASC and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including complex presentations
Desirable:
- Additional qualifications in SEND
- Experience in curriculum development for learners with SEND, especially those with autism
- Understanding of co-occurring conditions associated with autism and their impact on learning

*Welcome bonus is payable in 2 payments - 50% following successful completion of probation and 50% after one year service.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
