Job description

SEN Nurture Teacher – Primary & Secondary SEN Schools | Rochdale | Full-Time | September & Immediate Starts Available

Are you a qualified teacher looking for a role where you can genuinely change lives every day?

Whether you're an experienced SEN Nurture Teacher, a mainstream teacher considering a move into specialist education, or an Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking to begin your teaching journey in a supportive environment, we'd love to hear from you.

Teaching Personnel are currently working with a number of specialist SEN schools across the Rochdale area, supporting both primary and secondary-aged pupils. These schools are looking for passionate, adaptable, and enthusiastic teachers who are committed to helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

About the Schools

The schools we work with support pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH needs, speech and language difficulties, communication needs, and moderate to complex learning difficulties.

These are highly supportive settings where staff work collaboratively to provide personalised learning and pastoral support. With smaller class sizes, excellent staff-to-pupil ratios, and specialist facilities, teachers are able to focus on building meaningful relationships and making a lasting impact on pupils' progress and wellbeing.

Many of our partner schools offer sensory rooms, outdoor learning environments, intervention spaces, and access to therapists and specialist professionals who work alongside teaching staff.

The Role

As an SEN Nurture Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of your pupils. You will work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to create a positive and inclusive learning environment where every pupil can thrive.

Depending on your experience and preferences, opportunities may be available across both primary and secondary settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual learning needs
  • Support pupils with a range of SEN including autism, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties
  • Adapt teaching strategies and resources to maximise pupil engagement and progress
  • Implement EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
  • Foster positive relationships that support emotional wellbeing and confidence
  • Work collaboratively with support staff, parents, and external professionals
  • Monitor, assess, and celebrate pupil progress

Who We're Looking For

  • UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
  • ECTs and experienced teachers are encouraged to apply
  • Teachers from mainstream primary or secondary backgrounds looking to transition into SEN are welcome
  • Passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Patient, resilient, and adaptable approach to teaching
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment

Previous SEN experience is beneficial but not essential. Many of our schools are happy to support teachers making the transition from mainstream education and provide ongoing training and mentoring to help them succeed.

How Teaching Personnel Supports You

At Teaching Personnel, we understand that finding the right school is just as important as finding the right role.

Our specialist SEN and SEMH team works exclusively with schools supporting pupils with additional needs. We take the time to understand your experience, teaching style, career goals, preferred age group, travel requirements, and the type of setting you would like to work in.

Rather than placing you into the first available role, we work closely with you to find opportunities that genuinely suit your skills and aspirations. We can offer:

  • Access to a wide range of SEN and SEMH schools across Greater Manchester
  • Long-term, temporary-to-permanent, and permanent opportunities
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant
  • CPD and specialist SEN training opportunities
  • Trial days and school visits to ensure the role is right for you
  • Guidance throughout the interview and placement process

What the Schools Offer

  • Supportive leadership teams and experienced SEN professionals
  • Excellent training and career development opportunities
  • Small class sizes and high levels of classroom support
  • Specialist facilities and resources
  • Positive and collaborative working environments
  • Opportunities for progression within SEN education

Additional Information

  • Full-time opportunities available
  • September and immediate starts available
  • Competitive pay based on experience and responsibilities
  • Long-term, temp-to-perm, and permanent positions available

If you're a qualified teacher looking for a rewarding opportunity where you can make a real difference while being fully supported in your career journey, we'd love to hear from you.
