Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding role where you can make a real difference?
Teaching Personnel is recruiting for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist secondary school in Oldham. This full-time, long-term position involves supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), PMLD, CLDD, sensory processing difficulties, and social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
The Role
Working alongside teachers, therapists, and support staff, you will help students access learning, build confidence, and work towards their individual EHCP outcomes in a supportive and nurturing environment.
Your Responsibilities
✅ Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with complex SEN needs
✅ Adapt learning activities to meet individual learning styles and EHCP targets
✅ Support pupils with communication, sensory, behavioural, and learning difficulties
✅ Use visual timetables, PECS, communication aids, and other support strategies
✅ Promote independence, emotional wellbeing, and positive engagement
✅ Implement positive behaviour management and de-escalation techniques
✅ Assist with personal care and mobility support when required
✅ Work collaboratively with staff, therapists, and families to support pupil progress
What We're Looking For
✔ Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND is essential
✔ Experience with Autism, PMLD, CLDD, sensory needs, or behavioural challenges
✔ A calm, patient, and resilient approach
✔ Strong understanding of positive behaviour support strategies
✔ Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
✔ Commitment to a full-time, long-term position
Desirable Experience
⭐ Team Teach training or positive handling experience
⭐ Specialist SEN school or alternative provision experience
⭐ Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and sensory regulation
⭐ Experience using PECS, Makaton, or other communication systems

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
