SEN Learning Support Assistant (SEN LSA)

Full-time | Secondary SEN School | Competitive salary | Immediate start / September start
Are you an experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant looking for your next rewarding opportunity?
We are working with a specialist SEN school in Leatherhead that is looking for a committed, experienced and compassionate SEN LSA to join their supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping young people with additional needs develop their confidence, independence and life skills.
The Role
As an SEN LSA, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide high-quality, individualised support to secondary-aged pupils with a range of special educational needs.
You will be responsible for:

Providing 1:1 and small-group support in and outside the classroom
-
Supporting pupils with their learning, communication and emotional development
-
Helping students to develop independence, confidence and essential life skills
-
Implementing individual learning and support strategies
-
Supporting positive behaviour and helping pupils regulate their emotions
-
Building strong, trusting relationships with students
-
Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and the wider SEN team
-
Monitoring pupils' progress and contributing to their development
-
Creating a safe, inclusive and encouraging learning environment
About You
We are particularly keen to hear from experienced SEN LSAs who understand the rewards and challenges of working in a specialist setting.
You will ideally have:
-
Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN
-
Experience as an LSA, Teaching Assistant, Support Worker or similar
-
A calm, patient and nurturing approach
-
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
-
The ability to manage challenging situations with confidence and compassion
-
A genuine passion for supporting young people to reach their potential
-
The resilience, flexibility and teamwork skills required in a specialist school environment
Relevant qualifications such as CACHE, NVQ, TA qualifications or equivalent experience are desirable but not essential where you have strong practical SEN experience.
