This well-established specialist school supports children and young people aged 4–19 with a range of complex learning difficulties, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), physical disabilities, sensory needs, and additional communication needs. The Role

As a HLTA, you will play a vital role in supporting teaching and learning across the school, working closely with teachers, therapists, and wider support staff to deliver engaging and accessible learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead learning activities and interventions for individuals, small groups, and whole classes where required.
  • Support teachers with planning, preparation, and delivery of lessons tailored to individual pupil needs.
  • Promote pupil engagement, independence, and confidence both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Support pupils with complex SEND, adapting approaches to suit a variety of learning styles and communication needs.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff.
  • Assist with behaviour support strategies and contribute to maintaining a positive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with families, therapists, and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.

What We're Looking For

  • HLTA qualification or equivalent experience within an educational setting.
  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
  • Strong understanding of differentiated learning and inclusive practices.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and teamwork skills.
  • A patient, resilient, and proactive approach to supporting learners with additional needs.
  • A genuine passion for helping children and young people overcome barriers to learning.
