SEN Teaching Assistant – Full Time (September Start)

Location: Manchester
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Are you passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and making a real difference every day? Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive specialist setting this September.

This is a full-time opportunity within a well-established school that caters for pupils with a range of special educational needs. The school prides itself on its nurturing environment, small class sizes, and emphasis on holistic development, helping every learner achieve their full potential both academically and socially.


About the Role

You will support students with a variety of needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Communication and interaction difficulties
  • Moderate learning difficulties

Working closely with class teachers and therapists, you will play a key role in creating a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment.


✅ Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual needs
  • Assist with planning and delivering engaging learning activities
  • Support pupils’ emotional regulation and behaviour positively
  • Encourage independence, confidence and social skills
  • Help implement EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
  • Liaise with staff and contribute to progress tracking

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN (school or care setting)
  • A patient, empathetic and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. TA, childcare, or SEN training) are desirable but not essential
