Job description

Graduate Opportunities: SEN Teaching Assistant & Behaviour Support Roles – North Manchester

We are a supply agency working in close partnership with a wide network of primary schools across North Manchester. We are currently recruiting motivated graduates to support pupils in general SEN Teaching Assistant and Behaviour Support roles. These opportunities are ideal for graduates from subjects such as Psychology, Sports Science, Education, Sociology, Youth Work, or related fields who are looking to gain hands-on experience within education and child development.

In these roles, you will work closely with pupils who may have a range of additional needs, including autism (ASC), ADHD, social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), and challenging behaviour. Depending on the placement, you may support pupils on a one-to-one basis, in small groups, or within the wider classroom setting. Your role will involve helping students to access learning, manage behaviour, develop social skills, and engage positively with school life, while working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams.

Behaviour Support roles will focus more specifically on helping pupils regulate emotions, de-escalate challenging situations, and build positive coping strategies. You may support students during transitions, deliver targeted interventions, and provide consistent, calm support throughout the school day. These positions are particularly well suited to graduates considering careers in educational psychology, clinical psychology, teaching, counselling, youth justice, or social work.

Working on supply offers a wide range of benefits, especially for graduates at the start of their careers. Supply work provides flexibility, allowing you to choose when and where you work to fit around further study or other commitments. You will gain valuable experience across different schools and settings, helping you build confidence, broaden your skill set, and identify the environments that suit you best. Many supply roles also lead to long-term or permanent opportunities within schools.

As a supply agency, we offer ongoing support, access to training and CPD, competitive daily rates, and a dedicated consultant who understands both your career goals and the needs of our partner schools. If you are passionate about making a difference in young people’s lives and want meaningful, hands-on experience in education, we would love to hear from you.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
