Teaching Assistant – SEN & Behaviour Support (Wakefield)

Teaching Personnel are seeking a confident, high-energy Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Wakefield Primary Schools. This role suits individuals with a sporting or athletic background who bring natural authority, strong work ethic and leadership presence into the classroom.

You will support pupils 1:1 with SEND, helping them regulate behaviour, stay focused and engage in learning through clear boundaries, structure and consistency.

This is not about qualifications — we are looking for the right personality and mindset.

Candidates from sports coaching, boxing, fitness, martial arts, youth work or behaviour support backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.

Key duties include:

  • 1:1 and small-group SEN support
  • Behaviour and emotional regulation support
  • Supporting teachers with classroom management
  • Active supervision during breaks and lunchtimes

Qualifications are not mandatory. Experience with children or young people in sport, care or education is beneficial.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
