Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant
Worthing, West Sussex
Full-time | Term-time only
Competitive daily rate (dependent on experience)

Are you passionate about supporting secondary-aged students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are currently recruiting for a committed and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH setting in the Worthing area.

This role is ideal for someone who can build strong relationships with young people, support positive behaviour, and help students re-engage with their education in a structured and supportive environment.

The Role:

  • Support students across Key Stages 3 & 4 on a 1:1 basis and in small groups

  • Assist in managing challenging behaviour using positive and consistent approaches

  • Help deliver differentiated learning activities tailored to individual needs

  • Encourage student engagement, confidence, and emotional regulation

  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with secondary-aged students, particularly within SEMH or SEND settings

  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to de-escalate situations effectively

  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach

  • Resilient, proactive, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment

  • Team Teach or similar training is desirable (but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
