Behaviour Teaching Assistant – Alternative Provision

Location: Lancing, West Sussex
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm (Term Time Only)
Contract: Full-time | Permanent/Long-term

We are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming Alternative Provision in Lancing. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who require a nurturing, structured environment to succeed.

The Role

As a Behaviour Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Support students both in and out of the classroom.
  • Help manage behaviour using positive and restorative approaches.
  • Encourage emotional regulation and resilience.
  • Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to deliver personalised support.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
  • Support students to re-engage with education and achieve their potential.

  • Able to remain composed in challenging situations.
  • A confident communicator and team player.
  • Flexible and proactive in their approach.
  • Experienced in education, youth work, care or support work (desirable but not essential).
  • Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
