SEMH Teaching Assistant – Alternative Provision

Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday

Teaching Personnel are looking for a resilient and enthusiastic SEMH Teaching Assistant to join an Alternative Provision setting in West Sussex.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people who may have SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, additional needs or difficulties engaging with mainstream education.

The Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils
• Build positive and trusting relationships with young people
• Support pupils with their learning, behaviour and emotional regulation
• Help create a calm, safe and engaging environment
• Work closely with teaching staff and other professionals
• Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive behaviours

We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will be:

• Patient, resilient and consistent
• Confident managing challenging behaviour
• Passionate about working with young people
• Able to build strong relationships and set clear boundaries
• Calm under pressure and able to think on their feet
• Previous experience within SEMH, SEN, Alternative Provision, Youth Work, Care or Behaviour Support is desirable, but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
