Position: Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) Teaching Assistant

Location: Blakpool, Lancashire

Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) Teaching Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students with SEMH needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and develop the skills necessary for success in school and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

•            Provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs, both individually and in small groups.

•            Assist in the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs).

•            Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting students' self-esteem and emotional well-being.

•            Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies to support students' holistic development.

•            Monitor and report on students' progress, adapting support strategies as necessary.

•            Promote positive behaviour and conflict resolution among students.

•            Participate in training and professional development opportunities related to SEMH.

Qualifications and Skills

•            Experience of working in a school setting

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs.

•            A relevant qualification in education, psychology, counselling, or a related field is desirable.

•            Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

•            Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the well-being of young people.

•            Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.

•            Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to maintaining a safe learning environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
